Once part of the grand Weelsby Villa Estate, this woodland treasure became a beloved public land in the early 20th century. Generations have since cherished this natural haven, with its stately trees serving as living witnesses to the stories of yesteryears. Our first stop was the playground, and let me tell you, it’s every child’s dream come true! The playground at Weelsby Woods is a paradise for children, with swings, slides, and climbing frames that provide endless hours of fun.

Barney and Matilda couldn’t get enough of the thrilling slides and challenging climbing structures. We were delighted to see them laughing, making friends, and enjoying every moment of their playtime.

Weelsby Woods is a haven for nature enthusiasts. The woodland is crisscrossed by numerous footpaths that wind their way through the trees, inviting families to embark on leisurely walks and bike rides. 

We brought our bikes along, and as we pedalled through the woods, we were captivated by the stunning scenery that unfolded around us. The air was filled with the scent of the ancient trees, and sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating a magical ambience.

Wide-Open Spaces for Outdoor Games

Weelsby Woods offers ample open spaces that are perfect for families to engage in outdoor games and activities. We brought along a football and had a blast kicking it around, laughing and cheering as we scored goals. The joy and freedom of running through the open fields, with the wind in our hair and the sun on our faces, created a sense of togetherness and adventure. 

We also noticed families flying kites, tossing frisbees, and enjoying picnics on blankets spread out on the lush green grass. It was heartwarming to witness the shared laughter and happiness that permeated the atmosphere.

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just starting, the park’s cycle routes cater to various skill levels and ensure a delightful adventure for all. We explored the park on wheels. The kids loved the thrill of cycling through the woods, feeling the wind in their hair as we navigated the twists and turns of the well-maintained tracks.

What age group is it suitable for?

All ages. The park is brilliant for all age groups. We saw older children playing football, enjoying the play park. We even spotted a dad who had brought football goals to utilise the expansive playing fields to train his son. The Woods are an open space to be enjoyed by all.
